Die Werf

Our beautiful, historic Manor House and whitewashed cottages are set in beautiful gardens characterised by old oak trees, wild olives and abundant bird life and provide a haven of peace and tranquility for guests to enjoy. Situated on the slopes of the Hawequa mountains, the farm offers a sense of seclusion and magnificent views of the dramatic peaks that tower above it. Die Werf at Welgegund accommodates ten guests, making it the perfect place for families and friends to gather around the foot of the Hawequa and Drakenstein Mountains.

Kitchen

The kitchen is fully equipped for even the most discerning cook. Whip up family meals in a range of Le Crueset pots on our Lacanche range cooker with its gas hob and double ovens. Enjoy them in any one of our dining spaces, either indoors or al fresco, depending on the weather.

Dining

Our winter courtyard is a sunny, warm space on cold but clear winter days and a lovely breakfast spot in the summer. The outdoor dining area is under old oak trees and has views across the vineyards to the mountains beyond. There is also a large gas braai for outdoor cooking and summer dinners here make the most of the long, balmy Cape evenings.The main dining room exudes old Cape charm and elegance, and the oak leaf chandelier adds glamour to any occasion.

Meals can also be taken in the Tasting Room in the Old Stables, which is next to the pool and offers an air conditioned respite from the summer heat. Welgegund wine tastings can be arranged for you here.

Living

In winter, spend your days relaxing in the lounge or reading a book in the library with the fire burning. Watch sport or keep the cook company in the TV lounge and in summer, take in the views and enjoy the serenity of farm life from our outdoor seating area under one of our oldest oak trees.

Die Werf Master Room

Located in the main house with windows on to the garden, Die Werf bedroom sleeps 2 people. It has a separate dressing room and bathroom, with a bath and double shower. Luxurious feather and down bedding and pure cotton linen ensure a blissful nights sleep.

The Blue & White Room

Also located in the main house and overlooking the courtyard the Blue and White bedroom sleeps 2 people. Beautifully decorated in calm blues and white, its luxurious feather and down bedding and pure cotton linen will make bedtime the best time of the day.

The blue and white bedroom provides you with:

1 x bed (queen, extra length)
En-suite bathroom with shower
Underfloor heating & air conditioning

The Garden Room

Set apart from the other buildings, this room sleeps 2. It has large double glass doors that open onto a private patio surrounded by mature trees, gardens and bird life. Luxurious feather and down bedding and pure cotton linen make it a true haven for guests.

The garden room provides you with:

2 x beds (2 x single beds; can be converted to a king size bed by prior arrangement)
Ensuite with shower
Double vanity
Large barn doors protect double glass doors that all open on to a private veranda

The Copper Room

Located in the Old Stables, the Copper Room sleeps 2. Beautiful antique furniture pieces give the room a sense of history, which is enhanced by the gorgeous copper bath and fittings. Luxurious feather and down bedding and pure cotton linen offer the highest levels of comfort.

The copper room provides you with:

En-suite bathroom has a bath with a shower head over the bath, as well as a separate shower

Bathroom has external barn doors across a glass shower wall, that open to a private garden area outside

The Black & White Room

Located in the Old Stables. the Black and White room sleeps 2. With its original double thick walls and architectural features, it has an authentic old Cape feel which is enhanced by its sumptuous decor. The black and white bathroom has a fireplace featuring an electric fire grate heater.
